After flying high against the Swainsboro Tigers on Tuesday, the Veterans Warhawks came back down to earth. Veterans took a 72-66 hit to the loss column at the hands of Houston County. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Veterans still got an impressive performance from Chandler Thomas, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. The game was Thomas' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Antonio "Tone" Scott was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Even though they lost, Veterans were working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Veterans' defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Houston County, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
Veterans will head out on the road to face off against Northside at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Northside comes in still looking for their first win of the season. Houston County will be home for the holidays to greet Telfair County at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
