After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Southridge, Northeast Dubois was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Loogootee Lions as they made off with an 11-1 victory. Considering the Jeeps have won nine games by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Brycen Mroz made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mroz was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 11 matchups.
In other pitching news, Northeast Dubois got a great performance from Carter Fuhs as he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched.
Back at the plate, Northeast Dubois let Landon Beck and Jake Kluesner run wild. Beck went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Kluesner went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those three RBI gave Kluesner a new career-high. Carson Beck was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Northeast Dubois kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Loogootee only managed five hits.
Northeast Dubois has been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Loogootee, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-17-1.
Coming up, Northeast Dubois will be playing in front of their home fans against Cannelton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bulldogs have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.67 runs per game on average), something the Jeeps will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Loogootee, they will square off against Bedford North Lawrence at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
