Basketball Recap: Ezekiel Academy Drops Highest Score of Season Against Brooklane Baptist

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ezekiel Academy). The stars were shining brightly for them in a 93-74 win over the Brooklane Baptist Eagles on Tuesday. Given the Knights' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 110th, while the Eagles are ranked 239th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ezekiel Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Elijah Taylor, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Taylor a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Gerard Johnson, who went 10 of 15 on his way to 22 points and eight rebounds.

Ezekiel Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 27 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Ezekiel Academy pushed their record up to 15-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.6 points per game. As for Brooklane Baptist, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ezekiel Academy will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Restoration Academy at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. As for Brooklane Baptist, they will host Master's Hand Christian at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Master's Hand Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 60.9 points per game this season.
