The Greenfield-Central Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Triton Central Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Greenfield-Central put up the most runs they have all season on Friday. They put the hurt on Delta with a sharp 16-3 victory. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Ailea Dowdy and Addie Heacox dominated on the mound. Dowdy pitched two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits, while Heacox tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Heacox has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Josie White was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and five RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Savvanna Riall was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Greenfield-Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Triton Central had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Mohawks a 16-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Lillian Fillippinie made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fillippinie was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Madison Collins was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, two runs, and two doubles. She also put up a triple, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Jayda McKee, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Triton Central's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Greenfield-Central, their record now sits at 8-6.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Greenfield-Central hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Triton Central struggles in that department as they've averaged .409. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Greenfield-Central was able to grind out a solid victory over Triton Central in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 11-7. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
