Hurricane is 3-0 against Riverside since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Hurricane Redskins will be playing in front of their home fans against the Riverside Warriors at 7:30 p.m. Hurricane will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, Hurricane faced Cabell Midland in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Hurricane came out on top in a nail-biter against Cabell Midland and snuck past 31-28.
Hurricane relied on the efforts of Jacqai Long, who threw for 320 yards on 25 of 37 attempts, and Noah Vellaithambi, who rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns. Tyshawn Dues did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 147 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Riverside had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took their matchup on the road on Friday with ease, bagging a 48-6 win over South Charleston.
Their wins bumped Hurricane to 6-1 and Riverside to 2-5.
Everything came up roses for Hurricane against Riverside when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 44-7 win. Does Hurricane have another victory up their sleeve, or will Riverside turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
