Gulliver Prep is a perfect 4-0 against Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Raiders will challenge the Stallions at 3:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Gulliver Prep took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over Everglades.
Gulliver Prep got a great performance from Rob Dickman as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. Dickman has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Jacob Lombard was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Herrera, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.
Gulliver Prep was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 2-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, after only two runs in their last contest, Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) made sure to put some runs up on the board against Riviera Prep on Friday. The Stallions blew past the Bulldogs 13-6. Considering the Stallions have won seven games by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
The team relied heavily on Dylan Beaton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three stolen bases, and three runs. Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) is 9-1 when Beaton posts two or more runs, but 2-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Geovanny DiDomizio, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2.
Gulliver Prep's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-20. As for Somerset Academy (Silver Palms), the victory got them back to even at 11-11.
Gulliver Prep skirted past Somerset Academy (Silver Palms) 4-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
