4A Region III District 19 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Dayton extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region III District 19 this week by beating Porter, 49-0. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Jonathan Ducoff and Jhalen Demming gave Kingwood Park a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Ducoff threw for 116 yards and two touchdowns, while Demming ran for 80 yards. Carveon Blueitt also contributed to the rushing game with 57 yards on the ground.
Denzel Davis was the best wideout in the league this week as Humble lost to Summer Creek. Davis racked up two receptions for 69 yards. Chette Veal helped Humble's passing attack out by catching six balls for 50 yards.
Jeremiah Alison provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Wildcats fell to the Bulldogs. He completed nine passes for 138 yards and also ran for 61 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Devlin Isadore of the Spartans is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1210. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, Crosby's Austin Walter has rushed for 960 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Justin Walter. The Crosby star has 20 catches for 407 yards.
The Cougars' Walter needs only 40 yards against the Panthers next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in 4A Region III District 19 this week will be when Barbers Hill takes on Dayton. As it stands, the Eagles are in third, while Joel Hancock's team is in second.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Barbers Hill takes on the Broncos. Ronnie Gage's team has allowed 73 points this season, while Dayton has given up 59.
There should be lots of points scored when Kingwood Park and Crosby face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, Jim Holley's team comes in having scored 193 this season, while Jeff Riodan's team has scored 196. The Panthers scored 29 points last week as they topped New Caney.
Humble made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,531 from 10,759. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 42-5 victory over Charles West's team last week.
