Magnolia hasn't had much luck against Ritchie County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Blue Eagles will head out on the road to take on the Rebels at 5:00 p.m. Magnolia has given up an average of 8.3 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Tyler hit Magnolia with a five-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Eagles took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.
Conner Carpenter was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. Rydge Moffitt was another key player, going 1-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Meanwhile, Ritchie County waltzed into their game on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Eagles 11-5.
Brayson Hayes made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Hayes was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, Ritchie County got a big performance out of Tony McBrayer, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Josh Cline, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs.
Ritchie County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in three consecutive contests.
Ritchie County's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-18-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Magnolia, their loss dropped their record down to 7-13.
