In what's become a running theme this season, Eastern Wayne gave their fans yet another huge win on Friday. They put the hurt on Spring Creek with a sharp 55-29 win. Given Eastern Wayne's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 69th, while Spring Creek is ranked 416th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Beddingfield meant business on Friday, getting buckets from all over the court against a Panthers squad that has allowed just 22 points per contest. Beddingfield enjoyed a cozy 57-41 victory over North Johnston.
Beddingfield's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Natasha Marshall, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five steals. Marshall hasn't dropped below two steals for eight straight games. TJohnna Harris was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with four steals.
Eastern Wayne's win bumped their record up to 14-1. As for Beddingfield, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Things could have been worse for Eastern Wayne, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 48-34 loss to Beddingfield when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Thankfully for Eastern Wayne, Daneesha Briggs (who scored 27 points along with six steals and four blocks) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
