The BigTyme Prep Academy Bears waltzed into their game on Monday with five straight wins but they left with six. They came out on top in a nail-biter against R.W. Goines Stem Academy and snuck past 68-65. The win was all the more spectacular given BigTyme Prep Academy's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the are ranked 98th).
BigTyme Prep Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Mayen Ayuel out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds. Isaiah Stewart was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with six assists and two steals.
BigTyme Prep Academy pushed their record up to 12-10 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home. As for R.W. Goines Stem Academy, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 17-9 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. BigTyme Prep Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on the at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th. R.W. Goines Stem Academy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd.
