While Deep Run might've come up empty on Wednesday, Emily Plank wasn't going down without a fight. Plank wasn't messing around, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. The pitching appearance was her third straight with two or fewer walks.

Plank and Deep Run will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mechanicsville at 6:00 p.m. on April 9. Deep Run has some work to do to even out the 1-7 series between these two since March of 2015, but a win here would be a good start.
