Neodesha is 2-8 against Cherryvale since January of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The pair will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Neodesha posted their biggest victory since December 7, 2023 on Saturday. They put the hurt on Southeast with a sharp 61-40 win. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 44-12.
Meanwhile, Cherryvale had to endure a six-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Yates Center by a score of 48-41 on Friday.
Cherryvale found their leader in underclassman Leuie Umbarger, who scored 19 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Umbarger scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Landon Fox, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Neodesha's win ended a 12-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-7. As for Cherryvale, their win bumped their record up to 2-9.
Everything came up roses for Neodesha against Cherryvale when the teams last played on January 5th as the squad secured a 76-24 win. With Neodesha ahead 49-14 at the half, the game was all but over already.
