The Woodcreek Timberwolves will head out on the road to face off against the Roseville Tigers at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Woodcreek posted their biggest win since December 28, 2023 on Thursday. They blew past River Valley 68-45. Given Woodcreek's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 111th, while River Valley is ranked 752nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aidan Triplet was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points. Michael Kirby, Jr. was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Roseville waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins but they left with four. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Antelope and snuck past 68-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Roseville found their leader in underclassman Oreste Yong, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brandon Newton, who scored 13 points.
Woodcreek's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-5. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for Roseville, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.
Woodcreek was able to grind out a solid win over Roseville in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 57-47. Will Woodcreek repeat their success, or does Roseville have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
