The Ocoee Knights came tearing into Saturday's contest with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36.5 points) and they left with even more momentum. Couldn't have asked for a better way to wrap up 2023 than the 47-18 stomp they got on the road against Leesburg. Considering Ocoee has won seven games by more than 22 points this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Ocoee got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Micah Hannah out in front who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. That makes it five consecutive games in which Hannah has scored at least 25% of Ocoee's points. Jayla Weiser was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six assists and six steals.
Ocoee has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Leesburg, their loss dropped their record down to 11-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ocoee will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Celebration at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. Leesburg's road trip will continue as they head out to face South Lake at 7:00 p.m. on January 8th.
