The Rocky Mountain Lobos waltzed into their game on Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They walked away with a 68-55 win over Fairview. Given Rocky Mountain's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 28th, while Fairview is ranked 144th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leading Rocky Mountain to victory were Sara Chicco and Meela Delap. Chicco scored 19 points along with seven steals, while Delap dropped a double-double on 22 points and 12 rebounds. Delap continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ali Warner, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Despite the loss, Fairview still got an impressive performance from Bella Chang, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Chang has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Remy Tolar was another key contributor, scoring five points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Rocky Mountain pushed their record up to 9-2 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.8 points per game. As for Fairview, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-6.
Rocky Mountain won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mullen at 1:00 p.m. on January 13th. Mullen is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 50.4 points per game. As for Fairview, they will head out on the road to face off against Poudre at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Poudre focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up eight on Saturday.
