The Tok Wolverines were the 32-28 winner over the Fort Yukon Eagles when they last played one another back in February of 2020, but their luck changed this time around. Tok suffered a tough 61-39 defeat at the hands of Fort Yukon on Friday. While losing is never fun, Tok can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Fort Yukon is ranked ninth).
Fort Yukon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jane Ward out in front who scored 19 points. Nellie Ward was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Tok and nudges their season record down to 2-6. As for Fort Yukon, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 13-2.
Tok will head out on the road to square off against Susitna Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Fort Yukon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
