Minarets is 0-4 against Chowchilla since April of 2023 but things could change on Tuesday. The Mustangs are taking a road trip to square off against the Tribe at 4:00 p.m. Minarets has given up an average of 9.6 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Minarets lost 13-1 to Liberty on Thursday. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Chowchilla). Everything went their way against Caruthers on Tuesday as they made off with a 21-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Tribe, who have now won seven games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Ava Diaz made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Rylee Vlot was incredible, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Hadley Ray, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Chowchilla was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .417 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Chowchilla has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Minarets, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
Minarets might still be hurting after the 11-1 defeat they got from Chowchilla when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Mustangs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
