Softball Recap: Ware Shoals Wins Going Away Against Thornwell

Ware Shoals came out on top against Thornwell on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run sixth inning. The Hornets blew past the Saints 12-6. The result was nothing new for the Hornets, who have now won seven matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Stella Eichhorn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and one unearned) runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Paisley Pelfrey was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Bella Davis also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

Ware Shoals has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Thornwell, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-7.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Ware Shoals will face off against rival Whitmire at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Thornwell is set to challenge their familiar foe Abbeville at 4:15 p.m. on the 25th.
