Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Provo proved: they limited Mountain View to a paltry 2.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Teave Brown for the heroic effort on defense: he. Provo didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.8.
Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Salem Hills walked away with it. They were the clear victors by a 35-12 margin over the Bruins on Friday. The Skyhawks pushed the score to 35-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bruins cut but never quite recovered from.
Provo better keep an eye on Ryder Hales. He was instrumental in Salem Hills' win, throwing for 185 yards and five TDs while completing 76.5% of his passes.
Provo's record now sits at 6-4. As for Salem Hills, their record is now 7-3.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Orchard and Hales. Orchard just won't slow down this season and has thrown 27 touchdowns while averaging 240.2 passing yards per game. Hales has been a dominant force too and has thrown 24 touchdowns while averaging 249.7 passing yards per game.
Everything went Provo's way against Salem Hills in their previous meeting back in September, as Provo made off with a 49-25 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Skyhawks' Treygan Fusselman, who rushed for 83 yards and one score, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Bulldogs still be able to contain Fusselman? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
