Socorro has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Franklin Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Friday, Socorro was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 51-47 to Montwood. While losing is never fun, Socorro can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 768th, while Montwood is ranked 346th).
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Franklin's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 49-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of Americas. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Franklin has scored all season.
Socorro's defeat was their sixth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 8-9. As for Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 16-6.
Socorro lost to Franklin on the road by a decisive 65-49 margin in their previous matchup back in November of 2023. Can Socorro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
