Baseball Recap: Cedar Creek Wins Going Away Against Atlantic City

Cedar Creek won the last time they faced Atlantic City and things went their way on Friday too. The Pirates put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 19-6 win. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by seven runs or more this season.

Jerry McGowan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. McGowan was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nolan Scholder was incredible, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of JJ Watkins, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Cedar Creek is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Atlantic City, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8.

Looking ahead, Cedar Creek will welcome Holy Spirit at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Atlantic City, they will venture away from home to challenge Middle Township at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
