Kentucky Country Day has gone a perfect 10-0 against Whitefield Academy recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. It was a proper cat-fight when Kentucky Country Day duked it out with Holy Cross on Thursday. The Bearcats fell just short of the Cougars by a score of 2-1. Having soared to a lofty 20 runs in the game before, the Bearcats couldn't push the score so high this time.
Tyler Wilson was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and one double. That double was his first of the season.
Meanwhile, while Whitefield Academy put up plenty of runs on Tuesday, the same can't be said for Cornerstone Christian Academy. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 12-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won seven matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Andrew Beickman made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Whitefield Academy: the team is 5-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-5 otherwise.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Stockton, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Whitefield Academy is 5-1 when Stockton posts two or more runs, but 2-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was William Dowdle, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Kentucky Country Day's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Whitefield Academy, they now have a winning record of 7-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kentucky Country Day has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Whitefield Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Kentucky Country Day's way against Whitefield Academy in their previous meeting back in April, as Kentucky Country Day made off with a 13-2 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bearcats since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
