Lamesa is 8-0 against Muleshoe since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Lamesa Tornadoes will head out on the road to challenge the Muleshoe Mules at 6:15 p.m. Lamesa is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
Last Tuesday, Lamesa was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-49 to Friona.
Meanwhile, Muleshoe took a serious blow against Littlefield on Tuesday, falling 86-43. While losing is never fun, Muleshoe can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1180th, while Littlefield is ranked 208th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Adam Alarcon, who scored 18 points. He hasn't dropped below 16 points for three straight games. Jojo Barron was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Lamesa's defeat dropped their record down to 13-12. As for Muleshoe, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season.
Lamesa strolled past Muleshoe in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 69-54. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Alarcon, who scored 19 points along with four steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Lamesa still be able to contain Alarcon? There's only one way to find out.
