The Sheridan Blackhawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Eastern Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sheridan comes in on five and Eastern on three.
Sheridan is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Delphi Community for the full four quarters, racking up a 45-6 victory. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Blackhawks had established a 33-point advantage.
One reason for the win was Sheridan's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for eight sacks. Jaden Dunbar refused to say out of the backfield, picking up six sacks all by himself. He was another major factor on D, picking up six sacks and making 12 total tackles.
Meanwhile, Eastern got themselves on the board against Phalen Leadership Academy on Friday, but Phalen Leadership Academy never followed suit. They blew past the Falcon 67-0. The game marked the Comets' most dominant win of the season.
Eastern's win came from a few key players Sheridan will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bentley Hullinger, who rushed for 60 yards, and also picked up 60 receiving yards. Kaleb Hurt got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Eastern didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. Hurt was the real danger to the passing game, picking up three interceptions all by himself. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Sheridan's record now sits at 6-1. As for Eastern, their record is now an identical 6-1.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Sheridan has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 243.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Eastern struggles in that department as they've been averaging 165.3 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Sheridan ended up a good deal behind Eastern in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, losing 38-23. Can the Blackhawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
