They secured a 51-46 W over Palmview. That's another feather in the cap for La Joya, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
La Joya's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Owen Benoit led the charge by scoring 13 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Hunter Morales, who scored 12 points.
When it comes to explaining why Palmview lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joe Gonzalez. Despite the final result, he scored 29 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Gonzalez scored a full 63% of Palmview's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leonardo Rivero, who scored 9 points.
Even though they lost, Palmview were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Joya only pulled down three.
La Joya's win bumped their record up to 8-6. As for Palmview, their loss dropped their record down to 9-4.
La Joya will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against La Feria at 10:30 a.m. on December 2nd. One thing working in La Feria's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Palmview, they will take on Hidalgo at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
