The St. Petersburg Green Devils were the 42-36 winner over the East Lake Eagles when they last played one another back in December of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. St. Petersburg fell to East Lake 40-36. St. Petersburg has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the defeat, St. Petersburg saw an underclassman step up: Quay Curry scored 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Nique Slone, who scored six points along with two steals.
East Lake's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chanya Deboy led the charge by scoring 15 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Deboy has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Rose Cline, who scored 11 points.
St. Petersburg now has a losing record at 7-8. As for East Lake, their victory bumped their record up to 8-6.
St. Petersburg will stay at home for another game and welcome Pinellas Park at 7:00 p.m. on January 29th. As for East Lake, they will head out on the road to challenge Mitchell at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
