Halen Hazlett made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, nine RBI, and three runs. Those nine RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Langtree Charter Academy let Reese Horton and Addison Longino run wild. Horton went 1-for-5 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Longino got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and two stolen bases. That's the most RBI Horton has posted since back in April of 2024. Myonna Butler also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Langtree Charter Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Mountain Island Charter hit Corvian Community with a 16-run second inning last Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cardinals came up short against the Raptors, falling 20-5. The Cardinals have struggled against the Raptors recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Emily Johnson was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with five stolen bases and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Amaree Joines, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
Corvian Community's loss dropped their record down to 3-9. As for Langtree Charter Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-12.
Langtree Charter Academy came out on top in a nail-biter against Corvian Community in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 21-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
