The Capuchino Mustangs can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They blew past Oceana 66-46. Capuchino pushed the score to 58-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Sharks cut but never quite recovered from.
Capuchino had a senior duo take command as Isaiah Cruz scored 16 points along with four steals and two blocks and Dermott Philpott scored 19 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Philpott has scored all season. Ryan Ronquillo was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with four steals.
Capuchino's victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-13. As for Oceana, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-8 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Capuchino has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Vikings at 7:45 p.m. on February 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in California (Mills is ranked 876th, while the Mustangs are ranked 856th). As for Oceana, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Ravens at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
