Calvary Day School took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Greensboro Day School on Friday. While losing is never fun, Calvary Day School can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 138th, while Greensboro Day School is ranked 37th).
Calvary Day School's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Owen Calvert, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Calvert is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last nine games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Nate Keegan, who scored 11 points along with two steals.
Calvary Day School has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season. As for Greensboro Day School, their win bumped their record up to 20-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvary Day School will face off against Caldwell Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Caldwell Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past 13 matches -- so hopefully Calvary Day School likes a good challenge. As for Greensboro Day School, they will head out on the road to face off against Wesleyan Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wesleyan Christian Academy will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive.
