Princeton had won five straight on the road, but on Tuesday they bumped up to 14-5 to make it six. Everything went their way against the Erie-Prophetstown Cardinals as they made off with a 17-6 victory. Considering the Tigers have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Reese Reviglio spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in 14 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Keely Lawson was incredible, firing off two home runs, seven RBI, and three runs while going 4-for-5. Those seven RBI gave her a new career-high. Avah Oertel was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Princeton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are 12-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
As for Erie-Prophetstown, their loss dropped their record down to 10-8. The defeat continues a trend for them in their meetings with Princeton: they've now lost three in a row.
On Erie-Prophetstown's side, Lilly Swatos made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Hamilton, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
Princeton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, an 8-1 win against Kewanee on the 30th. As for Erie-Prophetstown, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 5-2 loss against Geneseo on the 29th.
