The Glenvar Highlanders pushed their score all the way to 68 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 77-68 to Alleghany. While losing is never fun, Glenvar can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 277th, while the Cougars are ranked 103rd).
Glenvar lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Aidan Hylton, who scored 17 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Reed Hutchison, who scored 21 points along with five assists and two steals.
Glenvar dropped their record down to 6-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Alleghany, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 15-4.
Glenvar will head out on the road to square off against the Spartans at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Salem has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 470 points over their last seven matches. As for Alleghany, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
