Atkinson County is 1-9 against Turner County since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Atkinson County Rebels will head out on the road to take on the Turner County Titans at 6:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Atkinson County lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the loss they were handed on on Tuesday was a bit more commanding. They were the victim of a rough 51-30 defeat at the hands of Charlton County. Atkinson County has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Ja'Kari Northcutt, who scored 11 points. Kamari Moore was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Meanwhile, Turner County unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 62-50 to Clinch County. While losing is never fun, Turner County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Clinch County is ranked 138th).
Atkinson County's record now sits at 16-8. Turner County's record now sits at 13-11.
Everything came up roses for Atkinson County against Turner County in their previous meeting back in January as the squad secured a 74-45 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Atkinson County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
