Madison was able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after defeating Vermillion. The Bulldogs came in at 24 in the state poll after placing at number 26 last week.
West Central took down Milbank/Grant-Deuel 53-6 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Jacob Giles and Mason Hemmer gave Madison a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Giles threw for 121 yards and two touchdowns, while Hemmer ran for 68 yards. Teammate Brody Frederiksen added to the ground attack by rushing for 29 yards.
Tanner Anderson was the best wideout in Big Eight this week as the Tanagers fell to Max Hodgen's team. Anderson tallied four receptions for 59 yards. JT Sorensen helped Vermillion's passing attack out by catching two balls for 40 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Giles and Rush Milne the Bulldogs have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Giles leads the league in passing with 874 yards, while Milne has rushed for 646 yards this season. Vermillion's Anderson leads the league in receiving yards with 300 on 24 catches.
Madison made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,268 from 6,548. The advance stemmed from a 40-8 victory over Gary Culver's team last week.
