The Garfield Heights Bulldogs's game on Saturday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 44-34 victory over First Baptist Christian. The win was all the more spectacular given Garfield Heights' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 494th, while First Baptist Christian is ranked 234th).
Garfield Heights found their leader in underclassman Journey Rencher , who dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Rencher has scored at least 25% of Garfield Heights' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stacia Mobley, who scored eight points.
Garfield Heights' victory ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-2. As for First Baptist Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 3-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Garfield Heights will square off against Bard Early College at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. First Baptist Christian's road trip will continue as they head out to face Our Lady of the Elms at 5:30 p.m. on December 15th.
