This season hasn't been kind to the Bayfield Wolverines, who are still winless after their sixth game. They took a 56-51 hit to the loss column at the hands of Monte Vista. Bayfield was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Monte Vista apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Bayfield's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Cooper Rodrick, who scored 24 points along with three steals, and Vincent McCullough who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. Rodrick scored a full 47.1% of Bayfield's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Lincoln Williams was another key contributor, scoring two points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Bayfield's defeat dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Monte Vista, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bayfield will be home for the holidays to greet Aztec at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Aztec is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Monte Vista will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ignacio at 4:00 p.m. on January 6, 2024.
