The Evergreen Valley Cougars will venture away from home to challenge the Pioneer Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Evergreen Valley will be strutting in after a win while Pioneer will be coming in after a defeat.
Evergreen Valley made up a huge gap compared to their last game against James Lick, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Evergreen Valley put the hurt on James Lick with a sharp 12-2 victory on Friday.
Mackenzie Brongiel made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 17 over six innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4.

In other batting news, Evergreen Valley got a massive performance out of Daven Woodham, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs Woodham has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Ariella Solorio, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.
Evergreen Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as James Lick only managed one hit.
Meanwhile, Pioneer suffered their closest loss since March 28, 2024 on Friday. They fell just short of Lincoln by a score of 6-4. The Mustangs have struggled against the Lions recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Olivia Krump was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was her first of the season.
Evergreen Valley's record now sits at 2-6. As for Pioneer, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.
Pioneer's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Evergreen Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.4 strikeouts per game.
