The Leesville Road Pride are taking a road trip to square off against the Enloe Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Leesville Road has given up an average of 7.2 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Cardinal Gibbons hit Leesville Road with a eight-run fifth inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pride came up short against the Crusaders, falling 11-1. The Pride have struggled against the Crusaders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.
Leesville Road saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sloan Decker, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Enloe had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Capitals with a sharp 14-4 win. Considering the Eagles have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Avery Modlin made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.
In other batting news, Enloe let Emily Peters and Kylan Wright run wild. Peters got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base, while Wright went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most RBI Wright has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lilly Watson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Enloe kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive contests.
Enloe's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Leesville Road, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-6.
Leesville Road skirted past Enloe 5-4 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pride since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
