Emporia came out on top against Independent on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive nine-run sixth inning. The Spartans blew past the Panthers 16-1. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won six matches by ten runs or more so far this season.
Alivia Barrett made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out seven over six innings pitched. Barrett was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
