Stephen Pulley and Michael Green provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Lincoln. The connection was good for 87 yards, the longest such play in Western this season.
Madison's Kareem Coles recorded the longest rushing play in the league this season in his game against Mira Mesa last week. Coles ran for 84 yards on the play and finished with 179 on the day as his team bested the Marauders.
Kearny's dynamic duo of Diego Mendoza and Green proved tough for the Hornets to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Mendoza threw for seven yards and four touchdowns and Green had 87 yards receiving. Ross Josh helped Kearny's passing attack out by catching two balls for 21 yards.
Jack Irwin made the biggest impact on defense this week as La Jolla bested Coronado. The 5-foot-10 defensive back grabbed one interception.
Thanks to the talents of Coles and Pierre Cormier Madison has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Coles leads the league in passing with 468 yards, while Cormier has rushed for 565 yards this season. The Komets' Green leads the league in receiving yards with 205 on eight catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Mission Bay takes on Rick Jackson's team. As it stands, the Buccaneers are in third, while the Warhawks are in first.
The Vikings moved up to 643 from 685 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Western. A 21-0 win over the Islanders helped La Jolla improve its standing.
