The Valencia Jaguars took care of business in their home opener on Monday (and then some). They blew past Deming 60-20 at home. With Valencia ahead 38-8 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Valencia to victory, but perhaps none more so than Damian Estrada, who scored 16 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Carin Bustillos, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Valencia's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Deming, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valencia will take on St. Michael's at 8:00 a.m. on Friday. As for Deming, they will head out on the road to face off against Alamogordo at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
