Carver Montgomery is 9-1 against the Mustangs since December of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Carver Montgomery Wolverines will be playing in front of their home fans against the Stanhope Elmore Mustangs at 6:30 p.m. The timing is sure in Carver Montgomery's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while the Mustangs have been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
Carver Montgomery pushed their score all the way to 61 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 67-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Enterprise. While losing is never fun, Carver Montgomery can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 105th, while the Wildcats are ranked 14th).
Despite the defeat, Carver Montgomery got a solid performance out of Landon Parker, who scored 27 points along with six rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Parker has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Conor McPherson, who scored 12 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Stanhope Elmore scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They walked away with an 80-69 victory over Prattville. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Carver Montgomery's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Stanhope Elmore, their victory bumped their record up to 9-17.
Everything went Carver Montgomery's way against the Mustangs when the teams last played two weeks ago as the Wolverines made off with a 73-53 victory. Does Carver Montgomery have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
