The Hernando Christian Academy Lions struggled with assists on Friday (the Mitchell Mustangs had 18 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Hernando Christian Academy was beaten by the Mustangs 66-18. Hernando Christian Academy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-11.
Hernando Christian Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Addisyn Slocum, who scored five points along with two steals. Slocum has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Briauna Richardson, who scored four points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Priya Jacob was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds for Mitchell. Moriah Hillmon was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.
Hernando Christian Academy has traveled a rocky road recently having lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Mitchell, their win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-9.
Hernando Christian Academy will face off against the Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Classical Prep focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 46 on Thursday. As for Mitchell, they will square off against the Seahawks at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
