The Armijo Royals lost against the West Campus Warriors back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The game between the pair wasn't particularly close, with Armijo falling 66-48.
When it comes to explaining why Armijo lost, one person who can't be blamed is Isreal Legree. Despite the final result, he scored 31 points. Those 31 points set a new season-high mark for him. Daniel Williams was another key contributor, scoring six points.
West Campus' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Edmund Michalski led the charge by scoring 19 points along with nine rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Green, who scored 19 points along with four steals.
Armijo bumped their record down to 4-6 with that loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for West Campus, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
Armijo is on the road again on Tuesday and play against Rodriguez at 7:30 p.m. on January 9th. As for West Campus, they will be playing at home against Rio Linda at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Kevin Smith and Zach Villanueva.
