After a string of 12 wins, the Central Lions's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 63-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Harrison. Central was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Harrison apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2020.
When it comes to explaining why Central lost, one person who can't be blamed is Messiah Boykin. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points along with six assists. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for him. Connor Williams was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with nine rebounds.
Central's defeat ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-1. As for Harrison, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season.
Central will be playing at home against Villa Rica at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Villa Rica is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. Harrison and Hiram will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 5th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Hiram sitting on three straight victories and Harrison on four.
