The El Capitan/Centennial Academy will take on the Hayden Lobos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as El Capitan/Centennial Academy comes in on ten and Hayden on 21.
Last Friday, El Capitan/Centennial Academy faced Salome in a battle between two of the state's top teams. El Capitan/Centennial Academy strolled past Salome with points to spare, taking the game 36-20. The score was all tied up 20-20 at the break, but El Capitan/Centennial Academy was the (much) better team in the second half.
El Capitan/Centennial Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Monte Hammon, who picked up 195 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Zedakye White was another key player, having thrown for 277 yards and three touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Hayden can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat St. David 68-0 on the road.
Hayden got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Paul Gaither out in front who threw for 176 yards and four touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Deondre Collier, who gained 142 total yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped El Capitan/Centennial Academy to 10-1 and Hayden to 10-0.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as the two teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. El Capitan/Centennial Academy commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 6 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Hayden struggles in that department as they've been even better at 8.6 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
