Baseball Recap: Rhodes Wins Going Away Against Glenville

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Whetstone, Rhodes was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Glenville Tarblooders. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Tarblooders recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.

Roberto Benitez was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run but no hits. Benitez was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of his five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.

In other batting news, Wilmer Reyes was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Luis Vasquez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Rhodes' record is now 12-2. As for Glenville, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rhodes will head out to challenge Andrews Osborne Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Phoenix will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. As for Glenville, they are taking a road trip to square off against Maple Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
