The East Mecklenburg Eagles pushed their score all the way to 58 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 70-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Charlotte Catholic. East Mecklenburg has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, East Mecklenburg still got an impressive performance from Bryson Heath, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Heath has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last four times he's played. Jordan Buzzard was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two blocks.
East Mecklenburg struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Charlotte Catholic racked up 12 assists.
Charlotte Catholic was led to victory by Eddie David and Chris Eagan. David scored 19 points, while Eagan scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. David continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Liam Gates, who scored 11 points.
East Mecklenburg has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-8 record this season. As for Charlotte Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 12-4.
East Mecklenburg will head out on the road to face off against Providence at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Providence has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 181 points over their last three games. Charlotte Catholic's road trip will continue as they head out to face United Faith Christian Academy at 3:30 p.m. on January 20th. United Faith Christian Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
