The Tohatchi Cougars have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 25 points or more this season. They blew past Cuba 76-51. The win was nothing new for Tohatchi as they're now sitting on three straight.
Tohatchi got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kyle Yazzie out in front who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The game was Yazzie's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Talan Long was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Cuba lost on Saturday, one person who can't be blamed is Tremayne Chiquito. Despite the final result, he scored 12 points along with three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Sandoval, who scored nine points.
Tohatchi's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Cuba, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tohatchi will take on Cuba at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cuba and Escalante will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Escalante knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matches -- so hopefully Cuba likes a good challenge.
