Saint Jo extended their losing streak to four on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-5-1. They came up short against the Perrin-Whitt Pirates, falling 11-2. If the Panthers were looking for revenge after losing 16-6 to the Pirates when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Saint Jo saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sam Martin, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.
As for Perrin-Whitt, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. Fans of they have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 6+ runs.
On Perrin-Whitt's side, Cole Keeney and Keagan Nevarez made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Keeney kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. Meanwhile, Nevarez pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those 12 strikeouts gave Keeney a new career-high. At the plate, Keeney went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Nevarez got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Keeney is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Morris, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Travis Welch, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run.
While Saint Jo had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
