The Paxton Tigers struggled with offensive rebounds on Thursday (the Maywood/Hayes Center Wolves had 14 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Paxton took a 45-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of Maywood/Hayes Center. Paxton has not had much luck with Maywood/Hayes Center recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Paxton lost, one person who can't be blamed is Josh Eakins. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. The match was Eakins' sixth in a row with at least ten points.
Paxton struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Jeremiah Ingison continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Maywood/Hayes Center, dropping a double-double on 28 points and 15 rebounds. Those 15 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxson Anders, who scored 11 points along with five steals.
Paxton's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Maywood/Hayes Center, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Cambridge the next time they take the court. Maywood/Hayes Center will head out to face Cambridge on Friday, while Paxton will host them at 6:45 p.m. on December 30th.
